Challenge

Create a unified solution that simplifies the process of accepting various digital ID wallets within Europe on any website or online service. Ver.iD needed a secure, compliant digital ID wallet platform that made it easy for businesses to verify customer information without adding technical strain on their team.

Strategy

Venture development - UX strategy - Tech stack strategy. In 2021, Ver.iD joined forces with OWOW. The primary goal of our partnership was to explore and pioneer a one-of-a-kind, secure ID verification tool.

Design

Given OWOW’s aspirations to emerge as a leading e-ID contender in Europe, their service demanded a seamless and universal UX.

Electronic ID verification processes today are often either inadequately designed or overly complicated, involving numerous steps—from scanning ID cards to capturing images via webcam, followed by a waiting period for a match confirmation. At Ver.iD, we’ve pioneered a completely fresh approach. We’ve designed our own unique flows and rigorously tested them with various stakeholders to ensure the steps are transparent and intuitive.


Ver.ID is all about offering a simple solution to many digital wallets and we wanted to create a website where this is easy to understand and also gives a feeling of security and makes you want to use it. With the implementation of 3D visuals the user sees that the data is safely progressed.


Our design system approach is applied to all platforms and ensures quality and consistency through component based design elements and atomic design principles. By using shared libraries and synchronized elements, our designers and developers are able to work smoothly and efficiently. Take a look at our design systems yourself.

Engineering

The Ver.iD app was developed using a microservice architecture with Apollo Federation and GraphQL for scalability, modularity, and resilience.

Independent services, like user and company management, were unified into a single graph by a central "mothership," enabling fault tolerance—if one service failed, others remained operational. The backend, built with Node.js, utilized Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for orchestration, with PostgreSQL as the primary database. Security was paramount, with custom-built solutions safeguarding sensitive data. This meticulous approach and robust tech stack ensured Ver.iD was highly scalable, secure, and reliable, setting it apart in performance and design.

By handling the technical complexity, we freed their team to focus on growth, while ensuring their business stayed secure and compliant.
