Backend Developer

About your role

OWOW is looking for an experienced Backend Developer who understands how to design clean, scalable, and future-proof backend architectures. You will build and maintain the systems that power our apps, websites, and platforms. You enjoy solving complex backend challenges, setting up cloud infrastructure, and implementing real-time communication features. You take ownership of your technical decisions and collaborate closely with designers, frontend developers, and product owners.

Job requirements

Your experience and knowledge

• Minimum of three years of proven experience in backend development.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, design patterns, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Node.js and frameworks such as NestJS.
• Hands-on experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Strong experience designing and building REST APIs.
• Experience with GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience with real-time communication technologies (WebSockets or MQTT).
• AWS knowledge is required. You have hands-on experience setting up or maintaining cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows is a plus.
• Based in the Netherlands and willing to work from our Eindhoven office (hybrid work policy).
• Proficient in English or Dutch, spoken and written.
• Comfortable working in sprints within a multidisciplinary team.
